For episode number 7, we welcome the founder of the brilliant vinyl-only Pathway Traxx and BeatStreets very own James Bond - David Garfit.

Having being the last member to join the BeatStreet ranks, Dave's now an integral part of the machine, with his selection always causing more than a stir at our parties. Aside from being a skilled and experienced DJ, he's an accomplished producer, having released through labels such as Akbal Music, Houseworx, Sex Panda White, Love Not Money & more.

To accompany the 78 minutes of quality deep techno and house vibes that he put together in preparation for our last party, here's a few words from the man himself...

"It's been well over a year since I last did a mix, so here is a quick mix I threw together to get you in the mood for our next instalment of BeatStreet.

Recorded in one take, this is a collection of some of my favourite tracks at the minute. Lots of new wax and some tracks you might recognise from my recent sets at our old beloved home, The Garage!!! RIP!

Enjoy! x"

So, it's been a little while, but here's the latest episode in our podcast series.

Episode 6 comes courtesy of French duo and our guests at this months party; Yamen & Eda.

These guys caught our attention with their take on the techno laden deep house sound which has become synonymous with BeatStreet parties. With releases on great underground labels such as Safari Numerique and Pins & Needles, these guys are attracting attention from the right places, for the right reasons. It's the strength of these releases that caught the ears of Adam Shelton and a previous guest of ours; Subb-an, owners of the mighty One Records.

We're pretty sure this is an insight into what the guys have planned for us in just under two weeks at The Garage!

For the 5th instalment of the BeatStreet podcast we have one of Tough Luck Records head-honchos; Chris Cue.

This lad's been very busy over the last few years. Aside from honing his now renowned DJ & production skills, Chris was on with Sample; a house & techno nights that graced the clubs of Newcastle bringing in some of the Worlds top DJ's, such as Art Department & The Martinez Brothers.
Whilst promoting and running the night as well as doing the business for brands all over the UK, Chris' slick production skills landed him releases on BeatStreet certified labels such as Kaluki Musik & Deep Tech Records. Releases via these labels opened the door for Chris to earn sets with brands such as Cocoon, Minus & Desolat - and not too long back he was snapped up by the "Two Point Zero" Family alongside the likes of Jody Wisternof and Martin Eyerer.

In more recent times, he's fired up Tough Luck Records alongside Lower East's Rebel and his Save The Pony partner-in-crime, Twon, a label specialising in underground techno (I believe there's a few cheeky unreleased cuts from them up in this B.)

Over the next few months Chris has dates lined up in all over Europe and this wicked podcast, focusing on stripped back, deep techno, one of the many sounds we heavily endorse at BeatStreet, explains exactly why he's such hot property.

Enjoy,

For the 3rd installment of our podcast series, we bring you one of Leeds’ finest; our good friend Alcatraz Harry.

Having produced and DJ’d for many years, he’s recognised as a heavyweight selector in the Leeds underground and having released via the likes of Leeds’ Love Not Money, Manchesters iDiosync & Mexico’s Neim – his productions have been recognised on a global scale, with support from the likes of DJ Sneak and many of the industries top dogs.

In preparation for his appearance at our next party at The Garage on April 26th alongside Timmy P, he’s put together this recording, a preview of the live set he’ll be shredding the dance floor up with to get the old tongue tingling. A feast of house & techno cuts including on-the-fly edits of his own unreleased work.

It’s been a long journey from his birthplace; a subwoofer somewhere in Frankfurt… read the
full story, it’s brilliant.

Enjoy.

Born in East London 1987 and obsessed with music from an early age, it was not long before Brett started channelling his natural enthusiasm into a creative medium when receiving his first pair of turntables at the tender age of 11. The natural progression from bedroom to dance floor occurred at just 16 years of age when Brett took his unique sound and packaged it into his very own parties that took place across numerous establishments in and around London.

After many years in the booth, DJing has seen Brett take on countless dance floors to date. Well-travelled, he has played across the globe from his hometown of London, across the UK and on to Portugal, Ibiza, Latvia, Australia, amongst many others.

With each day passing, Brett is becoming more and more the accomplished producer. His distinct deep and dubby tech house sound is already catching the ears of some of the industries biggest with the likes of Desolat regulars tINI, Yaya and DJ Sneak all supporting and playing his music.

2013 sees Brett spending a lot of time in the studio focused on developing his sound and further expanding his ever building reputation on the House scene. With Future Releases planned for Luna records and Be as One, he is well on track to fulfilling his vast potential - the future is beginning to look very promising for this talented young individual.

Words by Will Crawshaw

Weeks' in the making, this the first in a series of ever complex experiments in which I'm transforming my music performance completely. What I call, 'semi-live' I suppose... As it showcases music with me editing it along the way, with extra loops, percussion, samples, vocal chops and extracts from my personal productions as well. Combined with extra FX, lifters, atmosphere, and sometimes 3 or 4 tracks all blending at once. Some would say unnecessary, but it's fun, relentless, and certainly different.

Pushing the boat further afield...

Really enjoyed doing this as a project for myself to experiment with a new way of playing music out, only the start of something which I intend to grow into a set consisting of more live influences and on the fly jams!

The podcast's dedicated to my home at Beatstreet. Which you can find me and the most unique set of homegrown heavyweights, slammin' silly beats until the early hours, monthly at The Garage in Leeds.

Check out the facebook page for event information: www.facebook.com/wearebeatstreet

Tickets for the next event on Friday 22nd February with New Jack City are also available on line.

Hope you enjoy listening.

Peace & Love <3
